The Brothers

We all know Mother Teresa and the Sisters of Mother Teresa, not so well known are the Brothers. Founded in 1986 by Mother Teresa and Brother Andrew, the Brothers are charged with the care of men. Mother Teresa recognized as male children age to adulthood it wasn't appropriate for the Sisters to manage their care. So children and women fall to the care of the Sisters and men older than 18 shift to the care of the Brothers. The Brothers care for about 30 of the most vulnerable men in an already impoverished community. The love isn't just seen in the acts, it palpable, you feel it in the air. In the spring of 2013, I lived with the Brothers for about five weeks. I got to experience their daily life and see firsthand what true love, service, and humility looks and feels like. It was a humbling experience.
