Falling in love is an experience that alters a person's reality more than anything else. I have taken thousands of photographs of Irene. And for every one I took of her, she took two of me or us together. We had a long-distance relationship, and photography was as important to us as being together was. It became the bridge when we were apart; it became her; I loved photographs of Irene as I loved Irene. Photography is powerful in a multitude of arenas. We, as serious photographers, must act responsibly with deep awareness.
